Brighton chief Barber settles contract option rumours for Caicedo

Brighton chief exec Paul Barber has confirmed Moises Caicedo does not have a release clause in his contract.

The midfielder was fiercely linked with a move away from Brighton in January after Arsenal and Chelsea lodged interest. However, he remained on the south coast - being made not to train until the end of the transfer window.

Speaking on The Beautiful Game podcast, Barber said: "No, we don't operate like that and we try and avoid things like that because they become such a point of discussion and negotiation that you spend hours and hours on something that may not happen or if it does happen it may not be the right price at the right time.

"So we try and avoid things like that. We know other clubs use them, that's fine, but it's not something we tend to get involved with."
