Brighton captain Dunk happy with stunning clearance to deny Fulham winner

Brighton captain Lewis Dunk was happy to take their point against Fulham last night.

Dunk felt his goal-line clearance against Fulham was as valuable as a goal at the other end.

With the game in the final minute of added time, the ball fell kindly for Fulham midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek and his first-time effort beat Robert Sanchez, but not Dunk.

“That's what I am there for – it's just as good as a goal for me," the 28-year-old said. “Luckily I was in the right position otherwise Fulham would have won the game.

“We didn't concede, we kept a clean sheet. We're obviously frustrated we didn't score but we've taken a point."

Dunk also told the club's website: “Every year we've been in the Premier League we have been in this position. We've got a few new faces, but the core of the side that have been here a long time know exactly what we have got to do.

“We've done it the past few years in the Premier League and we have got to do it again this year.

“We don't think about it, we know what we're doing. It's frustrating the run we're on, this place was an absolute fortress when we were in the Championship. We need to turn it back into that."
