Brighton boss Poyet: Liverpool, Suarez did right thing with apologies

Brighton boss Gus Poyet feels Liverpool were correct with their apologies over Luis Suarez's behaviour at Manchester United.

Poyet grew up in Uruguay watching Liverpool when they conquered Europe and were the country's standard-bearers.

The Suarez affair has forced the club into issuing public apologies and Poyet says Liverpool will have learned a great deal from the episode.

"No one can say who is right or wrong because they haven't been in that situation making decisions," he said.

"It is very easy to say, but the people who talk freely about that have never been in this situation. It's very respectful that Liverpool apologised and Luis Suarez apologised.

"It is a very special season for Liverpool and let's wait until the end to see if it is a good one or a bad one. But I'm sure they have learned a lot. Nothing has changed for me - Liverpool are still one of the top teams in the world."
