Brighton boss Potter insists Duffy staying with Celtic

Brighton boss Graham Potter insists Shane Duffy is staying with Celtic.

The experienced Republic of Ireland stopper hasn't hit the heights since arriving in Scotland before the deadline.

He has been taken out of the firing line and replaced by the likes of Nir Bitton and Christopher Jullien in recent weeks and there has even been the suggestion that he could return to the Amex in January.

But Seagulls gaffer Potter believes the Irishman can turn his season around and has shut down any talk of him returning to the South coast early.

Speaking at his scheduled press conference today, Brighton head coach Potter told The Argus: “It's a season-long loan, that's how it has been from the start, that's how we see it.

“In the season you're going to get ups and downs.

“It's a bit of a challenging situation but, knowing Shane, he is a fighter and he's a good character.

“He will come through and has something to prove."
