Brighton boss Graham Potter was delighted with their clean sheet for victory at Leeds United.
Neal Maupay scored the only goal of the game.
Potter was particularly pleased with his side's defensive display that saw them record a well-earned clean sheet.
“We were smart in our defensive game, if you open up too much you can make it a match that favours them," he said.
“I would have liked a second goal, but a 1-0 win says a lot about the character of a team, we had to manage the situation and we did that."
Potter added: "We played against one of the best teams in Europe during the week and so to then come here and perform like we did means we should be very pleased.
“We know we are fighting for points and we demonstrated today that we are up for that fight."
