Brighton boss Hughton relieved to overcome Derby

Brighton boss Chris Hughton was relieved to reach the FA Cup quarterfinals after victory over Derby.

Goals from Anthony Knockaert and Jurgen Locadia booked Albion's place in the last eight of the competition, and Hughton was delighted with his team's disciplined performance against the Rams, who pulled a goal back through Ashley Cole.

He said, “Overall, I'm very happy because we're through to the next round, which is the most important thing.

“For us to get to the quarter-finals, it's a big thing for this football club. We'll see who we get when the draw comes, but we're here and that's what counts.

“I thought we were good in that first-half period, but we were up against a talented Derby side and we made hard work of it in the end.

“They're a team that had come back from two goals before. They made changes and made it hard for us, but there wouldn't be anybody that thinks we didn't deserve to go through."
