Brighton boss Chris Hughton praised his players after defeat at home to Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah's second-half penalty proved the difference between the sides, and Hughton complimented his players for running Jurgen Klopp's side very close on the south coast.
He said, “I'm incredibly proud of a group of lads that worked incredibly hard to stay in the game. They made it a game, lifted the crowd and rose to the challenges.
“They're such a good side [Liverpool] and sometimes you have to be at grass level to really appreciate their qualities, the pace and intensity that they've got.
“We now go into another huge challenge at Manchester United, and if I get the same from the players next week, I'll be delighted."
Hughton added: “You generally get a feeling of how disappointed the changing room is at the end of games, and it's a very disappointed changing room.
“They were always going to have some chances, but we restricted them to minimal chances. The chances they did have were when we made it a more open game, which favoured them."
