Brighton boss Hughton has no complaints with Everton win

Brighton boss Chris Hughton was left frustrated after their 3-1 defeat at Everton.

Lewis Dunk levelled the game with a close-range header before the break, but a 50th-minute strike from Seamus Coleman restored Everton's lead and Hughton was left frustrated by the timing of the goal.

He said, “We needed to start the second half better — we got the lift from the goal and were up against a team that's spent big money and got really good quality players in, and at times that showed.

“We got ourselves back in the game and what we needed to do was stay in it for longer in the second half. At that stage they got the second goal, that got their tails up and it became hard for us.

“We stuck in there and felt we could threaten. In the end I brought [Florin] Andone on and played two up front just to give us an opportunity to get back into the game.

“We needed to keep the ball better, but sometimes you have to accept you're up against a quality team. We knew we'd have to play to a level to get something from today, but unfortunately we didn't do that."
