Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi thanked fans for their treatment of Moises Caicedo during victory over Bournemouth.

De Zerbi also revealed why he named the Ecuador star on the bench.

He said: “It was an easy decision because I have big confidence in (Billy) Gilmour.

“Moises missed part of last week and it was right to start the game with Gilmour.

“Today we won the game with many young players who had not been playing that much."

De Zerbi had called on fans to back Caicedo after Albion rejected huge bids for his services.

He said: “For Moises, I'm really happy about the answer of our fans.

“I think together we are stronger – with Moises and with our fans, with their support."

De Zerbi then showed an appreciation of Albion's chief rivalry as he added: “We would like to give them one satisfaction next Saturday because, for us, Crystal Palace is not a normal game."
