Brighton are launching a bid for West Ham veteran James Collins.

The Sun says Seagulls boss Chris Hughton has prepared a £2million bid for Collins to join Brighton.

The West Ham centre-back, 34, is wanted at the Amex Stadium with Hughton desperate to bolster his defence during the window.

He wants Premier League experience at the heart of his back-line and will take advantage of Collins having less than six months left on his current Hammers deal.

Collins has forced his way into David Moyes' thinking in the last month and started three Premier League games.

But he is yet to agree fresh terms to keep him at the club for a seventh straight season, after rejoining West Ham from Aston Villa.
