Adam Smith has explained leaving Tottenham for Brentford this week.
The former England U-21 international joined the Cherries earlier this week on a three-year deal after 15 years with his boyhood club Spurs.
"The manager at the time said nothing to me about playing, despite the fact I was training with the first-team," he said.
"Only so many players could take part in the first-team pre-season tour and I was told I was going with the reserves to Portugal. I am not going to lie I was very disappointed.
"I had just come back from playing in the U-21 European Championship with England, so not being involved in the first-team pre-season tour was hugely frustrating as I was not even given the chance to show what I could do.
"I told my agent there was not much point in me staying. It was very difficult as I had been there since I was seven and my dream was to play for Spurs, but I made a big decision to come here and start my career properly."
