Brentford midfielder Christian Eriksen joins Denmark training

Brentford midfielder Christian Eriksen joined Denmark training on Wednesday.

Eriksen took a step closer to completing a sensational comeback with Denmark after an emotional meet up with his international team-mates on Wednesday.

The Brentford star has not played for Denmark since suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 in their opening game against Finland last June.

Since joining Brentford in January, the Dane has slowly worked his way into the first XI and his excellent form has allowed him a path back to international football.

Following his recall this month, he met up with his team-mates on Wednesday at the team's hotel, where he looked in high spirits as he greeted team-mates and socialised with old friends including Leicester City keeper Kasper Schmeichel.

He could now make his playing return at international level on Saturday when Denmark visit Holland at the Johan Cruyff Arena - where he used to feature for former club Ajax.
