ChampionshipBrentford chief executive Mark Devlin has confirmed that Gianfranco Zola is not under consideration for the new head coach position this summer. Current manager Mark Warburton will leave the club at the end of the season and a newspaper reported Zola was under consideration after he was spotted speaking to Bees owner Matthew Benham at a recent home game, reports Sky Sports.
But Devlin, who says the club do have a number of candidates under consideration, told Sky Sports News HQ: "Gianfranco is a great name in the game and recently came to watch us against Bolton.
"He was obviously spotted speaking to Matthew but there were lots of high-profile people at the game that day, such as Martin O'Neill. Lots of people come to games at Griffin Park for a variety of reasons.
"But Gianfranco is not currently under consideration for the head coach role. We have a list of candidates we're considering at the moment but he's not one of them."
