Brentford boss Thomas Frank is delighted with the arrival of recent signing Mathias Zanka.
The defender joined the Bees last month as a free agent.
"Firstly, Zanka is a really good defender, and we felt that we needed more quality, especially when we chose to play with three in the back line, so we have four really good stoppers. We have five in total, but we just think that Zanka is probably just the level higher than the last one," said Frank.
"It takes so little in the form of injuries or quarantine, and it is a really, really tough season, and we think it is very important with the quality of the treble chain with the way we want to play and defend.
"He has a high level. Zanka reads the game really well and is really good at being foresighted. He can play the zone defense game we want to play, so therefore it is also easy to get him integrated quickly compared to some others who have to learn it in a different way. That's one of the things we're looking for.
"And then of course he has experience - not only from the Premier League, but in general after a long football life. He can also play balls forward, so it has been a scoop to get Zanka in with his leadership experience."
