Brentford boss Frank happy former U16 protégé Hojbjerg a Spurs star

Brentford boss Thomas Frank is happy seeing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg a star with Tottenham.

Frank coached Hojbjerg when in charge of Denmark U16s.

"Since day one at Tottenham, he has performed well, and in the last two years he has just kept growing," says Frank.

"He came to Tottenham in a period where it was not as fluid and successful as it was in the previous three or four years. It always makes it a little harder.

"In that context, I think it is very impressive how he has performed and constantly added an extra layer in his game.

"I clearly remember that I was a youth coach for him. After a U16 international match I remember thinking 'hmm, he can become a world class six'.

"But he was a 10 at the time and needed to understand the defensive aspect of the game, and he has developed that."
