Brentford boss Frank admits Zanka could yet win new deal: He's Prem class

Brentford boss Thomas Frank says Mathias Zanka could yet be handed a new deal.

The Denmark defender was released this summer by the Bees, though has continued to train with the senior squad.

Frank said, "Zanka at his top level is an interesting player for us. There's a reason we picked him up last year. Everything is possible. Right now we have three stoppers available, so you never know what's going to happen in the future.

"I can clearly see him having a future in the Premier League. I don't see that changing when he is fit. The matches he played last season, he entered with some convincing performances."

Frank says it was injury that saw his contract not being extended at Brentford.

"Zanka trains with us, because he had a long-term injury last season. His contract expired while he was injured, and then you can't really extend him. He has been allowed to keep busy here, so he can get as fit as possible.

"As a club, I like that we treat our players in the best possible way. Now he is about to be ready again, and we hope that this gives him the best possible platform for what he has to do going forward."
