Brands set to leave Everton as director of football

Marcel Brands is set to leave his role as director of football at Everton.

The Dutchman has come under scrutiny for the club's transfer strategy after spending £300m since arriving in 2018.

The final details of his departure are now being confirmed before an official announcement, according to multiple outlets in the UK.

Fans clashed with Brands after the recent 4-1 defeat to rivals Liverpool at Goodison Park.

Supporters chanted against Brands and chairman Bill Kenwright after the embarrassing defeat.

Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri has publicly defended manager Rafa Benitez over the club's recent form.

The Spaniard replaced Carlo Ancelotti in the summer.

His side are currently five points above the relegation zone heading into Monday's clash with Arsenal.
