Bradford chief Sparks: Hughes appointment almost missed due to junk folder!

Bradford City chief executive Ryan Sparks admits they also missed new manager Mark Hughes' application because of a junk folder!

Former Manchester City manager Hughes was appointed as The Bantams' new manager on Thursday, replacing Derek Adams.

Sparks explained: "The truth of the matter is when it actually came through, we've had some issues with our emails and it was in my junk folder.

"I go through that every day and obviously I made a call very quickly to his representatives and explained: 'Apologies for the three-hour delay, I'm usually on it but I would like to have a conversation with Mark'."

Hughes has not managed since being sacked by Southampton in December 2018. He has previously also managed Manchester City, Queens Park Rangers and Fulham among others.
