Charlie Daniels is ready to challenge new Bournemouth arrival Diego Rico for the starting left-back spot.

Rico joined for £10.7million from Leganes this summer and is expected to challenge the 31-year-old for the role. But Daniels isn't going out quietly.

He told the Daily Echo: "It is going to be tough but that is what Premier League clubs do – they sign good players who threaten your position.

"It is going to be a challenge but one I am looking forward to.

"A lot of left-backs have come to the club since I've been here, it is not new, but it is another challenge and, hopefully, it will make me better.

"I relish it. I'm the sort of person who rolls up their sleeves and says 'bring it on'. We will see what happens in the next six months."
