BOURNEMOUTH V EVERTON RECAP: Cherries fight back to claim draw with Toffees

Bournemouth twice came from behind to claim a 3-3 draw with Everton at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors got out to an early 2-0 lead after Ramiro Funes Mori and Romelu Lukaku both found the back of the net inside the opening 45 minutes.

Adam Smith's long bomb in the 80th minute got the home side back in the contest, before Junior Stanislas equalised with three minutes of regulation remaining.

Ross Barkley appeared to have netted the winner for Everton in the 95th minute, only to see his goal cancelled out by another Stanislas striker in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

Bournemouth: 3 (Adam Smith 80', Junior Stanislas 87'/90+8')
Everton: 3 (Ramiro Funes Mori 25', Romelu Lukaku 36', Ross Barkley 90+5')

Everton will be no doubt wondering how they failed to pick up all three points after twice leading against a Cherries side battling to stave off relegation.

For Bournemouth, the result was a morale-boasting point that will buy under pressure manager Eddie Howe more time at the helm of the promoted club.

Bournemouth travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea on Saturday, while Everton take on Middlesbrough in a League Cup quarter-final before hosting Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Monday night.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe describes the emotion of his side's comeback:

"It's unbelievable how football can play with your emotions. To score in the manner we did at the end was one of the biggest highs I've had in football.

“An incredible day, though this game is no good for your health. I'll be having an early night tonight."

Everton manager Roberto Martinez was disappointed his side let three points slip:

"Our first-half performance was very good. We were in control, dominant and scored two goals.

“But in the second half we lost control, though you must expect the home side to come at you."
