Bournemouth striker Wilson: Kettering? I always believed I'd get to Premier League

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson is eager to make his Wembley debut after earning a first England call-up.

Wilson joined Bournemouth from hometown club Coventry for £3million four years ago yet in 2011 was loaned to Kettering — a long way from turning out at Wembley — while he also featured briefly for Tamworth.

Wilson told The Sun: “Obviously England is a long way off when you are in non-League.

“I was turning up at training and playing games with players coming in their work overalls. It hit home that if I was not to be successful I would need another job alongside football.

“But I always said I would play in the Premier League. I knew I had the ability. As a kid you want to represent your country.

“I have not played at Wembley yet but I have been there — as a fan to watch Coventry in the Checkatrade Trophy final.

“I was disappointed that I went there as a fan first and not a player but hopefully I will get on to the pitch.

“It is a dream come true. I just want to enjoy the experience."
