Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson says he will be eternally grateful for the support given to him by Alan Shearer.
Wilson received a motivational text message from the Newcastle and England legend after suffering an ACL injury in 2015.
"It was basically giving me his experience of how he'd been through similar and had overcome adversity," said Wilson. "He just said, 'Believe that you will come back'.
"It was a long time ago now but I'll always be grateful. I've never forgotten it.
"Watching Match of the Day growing up as a kid I saw him scoring goals week in, week out, then being a pundit giving his take on the game.
"So to hear him talking about me and then for him to actually send me a message was incredible and reassuring.
"If he didn't rate me as a player he wouldn't have sent it. He cares and that's nice. It's rare to come across people like that in life.
"I'm grateful for that message and it did help me kick start the beginning of my rehab at that time."
