Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe a target for Sheffield Utd

Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe is being linked with Sheffield United.

The Sun says the Blades are weighing up a move for Jermain Defoe to boost their promotion hopes.

Blades boss Chris Wilder wants a No 9 in the January transfer window after getting within sight of the Premier League.

And Bournemouth striker Defoe is on his radar for a six-month loan after failing to start a Premier League game this season under Eddie Howe.

The 36-year-old has a season left on his Vitality Stadium contract.

And Bournemouth would need to help out with his wages to loan him to the Championship.

Defoe joined the Cherries in 2017 — returning after playing for the south coast club on loan from West Ham in 2000-01.
