Bournemouth signing Wilshere met with Roma chief Baldini

Arsenal blocked Jack Wilshere's move to Roma on deadline day, it has been revealed.

The Daily Mail says Wilshere was set to join Roma - only for Arsenal to end his hopes of a move to Italy.

The talented midfielder joined Bournemouth in one of Wednesday's shock transfers.

But he gave serious consideration to a switch to the Italian capital following talks with Franco Baldini, who is a consultant for Roma.

However, any aspirations Wilshere had of a move to Serie A were scuppered by his parent club Arsenal.

Having weighed up all of the loan offers, which included deals from Crystal Palace and AC Milan, Arsenal decided Bournemouth's package represented the best financial value for the club.
