Bournemouth losing hope of survival after Man City loss

Bournemouth's chances of survival took a dent with a 2-1 loss to Manchester City on Wednesday.

David Silva put the hosts ahead after six minutes with a delightful curling free-kick.

The Cherries responded well and looked like a time battling for their Premier League lives.

However, Gabriel Jesus doubled the advantage close to half-time with a spectacular solo goal which saw the Brazilian dribble past a number of Bournemouth defenders before beating Aaron Ramsdale.

David Brooks grabbed a consolation goal for Bournemouth but it was too late, leaving them three points from safety with two games to play.

Speaking after the game, Howe said: "It is not about performance at this stage of the season because we want results but I can't fault the lads.

"We were in it right to the end. The lads gave it everything right to the last kick.

"We certainly looked a real threat in front of goal, there was a lot of quality in our performance.

"We played at the right times and mixed it up well. I'm just absolutely devastated to come away with nothing after putting so much into the game."
