Bournemouth, Leicester move for Brentford defender Chris Mepham

Brentford defender Chris Mepham is a target for Premier League clubs.

The Daily Mail says Bournemouth and Leicester are competing to sign Mepham from Brentford.

But the Championship club have resisted all bids so far, with the latest reaching £12m from Eddie Howe's side.

Leicester are believed to have seen a £10m offer for rejected and are weighing up whether to go higher for a centre-back who would be behind Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans in the pecking order.

Former Chelsea junior Mepham, 20, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Bees manager Dean Smith last season and earned his first two Wales caps under Ryan Giggs.
