Bournemouth focusing on hard work as fairytale comes to an end – Elphick

Bournemouth captain Tommy Elphick is already over the euphoria of promotion to the Premier League and instead is concentrating on the next task at hand: survival.

The Cherries have already started their pre-season and Elphick is planning on staying for more than nine months in the top flight after winning the Championship title last term.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: "Obviously there's new challenges and new sponsors but we can't wait to get cracking with the football side of things and everyone needs to get bedded in quickly and crack on.

"It's going to be good to go on the pre-season tour and get to know the new lads and build understanding and concentrate on the task ahead.

"There's some hard miles lying ahead and there will be plenty of graft in the next few weeks and it's all planned out well in advance. We want to get the build-up right and make sure we are ready for the opening game.

"It's great. It's what you work for all your career. As a professional, you want to play at the highest level. We have got to the position that we have but the fairytale is now over. We must concentrate on the task ahead and make our mark and stay in the league as long as possible."
