Bournemouth boss Howe: I won't match Hodgson longevity

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says that he will not be in management as long as Roy Hodgson.

It is an interesting contrast in the Premier League on Monday, when Howe takes on Hodgson.

One is the youngest boss in the league, while the other is the oldest. At 71, Hodgson has survived longer than most in the game. And Howe admires that longevity.

He told the Daily Echo: "It's so hard these days for anybody to manage a Premier League club with the intensity you are under and the rollercoaster of emotions which goes through every one of us.

"You can see Roy wants to achieve and wants to win and he still works incredibly hard at doing that.

"From my perspective, you are always wanting to prove something every game. You go into a match and want to achieve.

"The fire burns very brightly. Whether the fire will be burning as brightly for me at Roy's age, or whether I've still got the opportunity to manage, who knows? But I respect him immensely for it.

"(Managing at 71) does seem a long way away and difficult to imagine. With the modern pressures of the game, whether you will see that in future, I'm not so sure.

"The speed of the job and the pace of everything is so quick in the Premier League. They are long days and it can be exhausting work mentally, so whether you will see managers managing as long in the future, I'm not sure.

"The job gets more and more difficult and more physically and mentally demanding than even when I started.

"So who knows whether that will happen but that's just my prediction."
