Bournemouth boss Howe backs Simpson after Liverpool gaffe

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is standing by Jack Simpson after his mistake against Liverpool.

The Cherries manager is not worried about the 23-year-old costing his side in their previous Premier League game.

Simpson was responsible for giving away possession and costing his side their lead last time around.

But Howe thinks that players can learn from such mistakes going forward.

He told the Daily Echo: "I think once he settled into the game I thought he did fine, thought he defended well.

"It's very difficult when you come on at that stage of the game because the game pattern and speed is set. You've got to get into that flow very quickly and I felt he suffered from that really.

"It's more difficult as well obviously for him playing on the right-hand side rather than the left. I think if he's on his left side he probably deals with that (Liverpool's first goal) comfortably.

"So challenges for him but as a young player, they're the challenges you're going to face and this is the elite level, it's the very highest level so he'll learn from Saturday."
