Bournemouth beat Liverpool, Arsenal to land Bristol City defender Lloyd Kelly

Bournemouth beat Liverpool and Arsenal to land Bristol City defender Lloyd Kelly yesterday.

The Daily Mail says the 20-year-old becomes the first major signing of the summer transfer window having completed his move on Saturday afternoon.

Kelly had been a target for some of the Premier League's top clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal, but believes he has greater chance of making an immediate first team impact under Eddie Howe at Bournemouth.

Liverpool were particularly keen on Kelly as he can play left back and centre back but as competition grew, the deal became expensive and the England U21 international was also aware that he would arrive predominantly as understudy to Andy Robertson.
