Borussia Monchengladbach would be willing to break their club record to sign on-loan defender Andreas Christensen on a permanent basis despite Chelsea's reluctance to sell him, reports the London Evening Standard.
Chelsea were keen for the 20 year old to join up with the first team squad when he returns from a two-year loan next summer.
Though there is no agreed purchase option between Chelsea and the Bundesliga side to bring in Christensen director of football Max Eberl has revealed that Gladbach would be willing to spend big to keep hold of Christensen beyond the end of next season.
"In the case of Christensen we are ready to make a record transfer," Eberl told Bild. "We know that a player with his quality does not come cheap."
