Borussia Dortmund thrilled to land ‘great Spanish talent’ Merino from Osasuna

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc was delighted his club were able to secure the services of Mikel Merino on Monday.

The 19-year-old Osasuna midfielder signed a pre-contract agreement with BVB who he will join on a five-year deal this summer.

Spain U19 international Merino has come through the youth ranks of the Spanish Segunda Division outfit and will arrive at Westfalenstadion with a great reputation according to Zorc who describes the new addition as 'a great talent of Spanish football'.

Zorc added: "We are very happy that we managed to complete his transfer in time for the new season."

Regarding his imminent move to Dortmund, Merino told his new club's official website: "Borussia Dortmund is one of the top clubs in Europe.

"I feel honoured that I will be able to play for BVB soon, a club that is known for a special brand of football and plays in an impressive stadium in front of the biggest crowd in Europe at the moment, and the fans are very loyal and show real support!"

Merino made his debut for Osasuna in August 2014 and has so far played 51 times for the Pamplona-based outfit.
