Borussia Dortmund have dropped their interest in Sevilla's Andreas Hinkel, paving the way for Celtic to make their move for the defender.
Hinkel visited Glasgow for a medical on Friday and this infuriated Dortm und who believed that they had sealed a deal to bring the 25 year old back to the Bundesliga.
Dortmund general manager Michael Zorc said: "I really don't understand Andreas. We had an agreement with the player and his agent and Sevilla knew our position, but then I hear he travels to Scotland.
"That says everything about his character. After all this we don't want Hinkel anymore."
