Borussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc insists they had to sack Lucien Favre yesterday.
Dortmund sacked Favre after their humiliating 5-1 defeat at home to Stuttgart on Saturday.
Favre's previous assistant coach Edin Terzic will take charge of the team against Werder Bremen.
Zorc explained, "It is difficult for us to take this step. However, we are of the opinion that achieving our goals for the season is at great risk due to the negative development of the current situation and therefore we had to act quickly."
