Bordeaux defender Laurent Koscielny has lifted the lid on his controversial departure from Arsenal last summer.

The former Gunners captain angered many in London for the way he forced through his transfer.

Koscienly admits he regretted signing a new contract with the Gunners and chose to quit due to his family.

After victory over Marseille, he told Canal+: "To be simple, I was not happy from the first day I signed.

"And with my family, we needed to go back and have a new challenge."
