Bordeaux coach Jean-Louis Gasset was coy yesterday about interest in Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.
Giroud's future is again up in the air after being encouraged to leave Chelsea this week by France coach Didier Deschamps.
Asked for a reaction to the news, Gasset quipped: "Well tried!"
After Giroud's two salvo in victory over Sweden, Deschamps said: "I talk with him, he is aware of the situation.
"He comes with a physical deficit. Since October, he has had very, very little playing time. The first game (against Finland) has served him well. He returned to Portugal well. There, he put two beautiful goals.
"He has a situation in his club which does not suit him, which does not allow him to arrive in the best conditions."
