Boothroyd happy Big Sam checking on England U20 kids

England U20 coach Aidy Boothroyd was delighted with the presence of Sam Allardyce on Thursday to see their friendly with Brazil.

The England boss watched on as the two teams drew 1-1 behind closed doors at St George's Park on Thursday, and saw Arsenal's Ainsley Maitland-Niles cancel out Richarlison's opener.

"We're really excited about preparing for it," Boothroyd said. "The Euros was a success for us, not quite the result we wanted in the end but there were real positives that came out of that.

"We've got a chance this time to look at one or two players who perhaps this time haven't had the opportunity to play in the (Under) 20s yet.

"That's been good as well because we're going to need some depth when it comes down to all the games we have coming up.

"England have never won an Under-20s World Cup and it's the next best thing and the next best experience in terms of understanding what it's going to be like in the real World Cup.

"Hopefully a few of ours will be in there in the future."
