Bolton loanee aims for France international recognition

Sebastien Puygrenier sees his loan spell at Bolton as a stepping stone to playing for France. The 27-year-old Zenit St Petersburg centre back is at the Reebok Stadium until the end of the season.

"It would be a dream to play for France," he said in the Manchester Evening News.

"There are a lot of players in front of me, but there is no reason why one day I can't get my chance.

"Hopefully, I will get more exposure over here than I would in Russia - but I'm going to concentrate on my own performances, first and foremost.

"I understand the way the team want to play football from the way the manager has outlined his ideas. It's taken me a few games to improve my strength and fitness, but now I feel I'm up to a standard where I can match the rest of the defence."
