Bolton defender Ream determined to taste Gold Cup success with USA

Bolton Wanderers defender Tim Ream is eyeing victory with the USA in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Holders USA were favourites heading into this year's edition of the Gold Cup and started off the defence of their title on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Honduras in Texas.

US defender Ream is certainly excited regarding the tournament and has stated that he is desperate to claim success after missing out on the squad two years ago.

He said: "I'm looking forward to being involved in my second Gold Cup, after missing out in 2013. It's a tough competition, with so many games in a short amount of time.

"The mood in camp is great right now. We are all very confident heading into the first game, especially after winning our friendly against Guatemala on Friday. Being with the national team is a huge honour, obviously, but it is a lot of hard work with all the training, meetings and team activities that are planned every day.

"I want to have a winners' medal at the end of this Gold Cup. This tournament will take all 23 guys pulling in the same direction for the duration. I hope to get some playing time and contribute in any way possible."
