Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill is ready to start for England against Switzerland.
With John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Ledley King and Michael Dawson all ruled out, Cahill is set to take his place alongside Phil Jagielka in Basle.
Cahill said: "From the time you are a little lad you strive to play for your country, so why not put me in against Switzerland? I'm ready for it definitely.
"I think the opportunity is there for a new back four for England. I've got a little bit of age on my side and the more experienced boys can show me the ropes.
"I've come on and played, made that debut and that's a big thing after constantly thinking, 'when's it going to come?' I can learn from the boys in front of me now.
"I hope to be in the England set-up for years to come."
