Bolton bracing for Villa approach for Coyle

Bolton Wanderers are expecting an approach from Aston Villa for manager Owen Coyle.

The Sun says Villa are smarting after being snubbed by Wigan's Roberto Martinez.

Now Bolton chairman Phil Gartside fears an unwelcome bid for Reebok boss Coyle, who he feels could turn out to be the new Alex Ferguson.

Gartside said: "They all make comparisons between him and Fergie, who is still on the training pitch at 70.

"Owen's 44, which gives him 26 years on Alex. I'm not sure Owen will work until he's 70 but he's definitely fit enough and still plays football every day.

"He has that ability to be an all-round manager. He's not just a coach.

"Man-management wise he has all the abilities and coaching-wise he has all the tactical knowledge.

"He lives and breathes football. He's hungry and can be as good as anything in this country."
