Bolton boss rues poor defending in Blackpool defeat

Bolton boss Owen Coyle watched his team lose 4-3 at Blackpool then declared the loss was self inflicted through poor defending. The Scot felt Bolton deserved to come away with at least a point but conceded their defending was not good enough.

"We've lost a game that I certainly felt didn't merit it on the performance we gave," Coyle told Sky Sports.

"I think the first half was quite even with Blackpool just edging in front, but in the second half we've dominated and Jussi Jaaskelainen's not had a save to make in the game.

"We got it back to 3-3 and looked set to go on and win the game and then we get caught on the counter-attack, although I've got to say it was a great finish from Charlie Adam.

"Having said that, we've got to defend better as a team, and each goal, as good as the finish was from the Blackpool player, I thought the defending was naive and self-inflicted."
