Bologna's Japanese international defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is in talks with Tottenham.
The Daily Mail says the versatile 22-year old can play at right back or central defence and has over 20 caps for his country.
Tottenham have discussed a number of options for right back including Brighton's Tariq Lamptey but he is likely to cost in excess of £35million.
Tomiyasu is likely to be around £15million.
He is quick and physical while his hero as a boy was Argentina's Javier Mascherano.
Spurs expect to sell Serge Aurier and want another centre back with Fulham's Joachim Andersen among the names on their list.
