Bojan Krkic returned for Stoke City as Mark Hughes' side suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford at Griffin Park.
The Potters welcomed back Bojan after a seven-month knee injury lay-off but went down to goals from Andy Gogia and Stuart Dallas.
Winger Gogia's shot on 32 minutes struck Ryan Shawcross' head and looped over goalkeeper Jack Butland and flew into the net.
And Marinus Dijkhuizen's side sealed victory 16 minutes from time when Dallas scored from a tight angle following a corner.
