Boca Juniors chief admits plans for Man Utd striker Cavani still alive

Boca Juniors remain keen on Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani.

United signed the veteran striker on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 and he had an impressive debut season in England, bagging 17 goals and six assists in just 39 appearances.

Cavani performed so well that United were desperate to hold on to him for another campaign, but it looked as though his time in Manchester was set to be brief.

His father, Luis, claimed in March that Cavani was not happy in the country and wanted to return to his home continent with Argentine giants Boca.

Eventually, however, after a strong finish to the season, United managed to convince Cavani to put pen to paper on a one-year extension at Old Trafford.

But Jorge Bermudez, a member of the club's council, has revealed that they still want him to join them.

“There was a great dream at the time, but we deeply respect him," Bermudez told TyC Sports.

“There is the Bombonera, people come and Boca is waiting for him. Hopefully one day Boca can can have that taste."
