Sporting Kansas City have been dealt a cruel blow with news that Ike Opara is set to miss the rest of the MLS season.

The 26-year old defender sustained the injury late in the weekend's 0-0 draw with Real Salt Lake and although there has been no official date set for his return, he is likely to miss at least six months.

Opara had kicked off the 2015 season in fine fashion for SKC, helping the club keep three shutouts, while scoring two goals in six matches.
