Burnley striker Martin Paterson could face some time out after damaging knee cartilage against Barnsley on Tuesday. The 22-year-old was stretchered off during the Clarets' Carling Cup defeat at Oakwell after twisting his knee after 15 minutes.
However, there is more positive news for goalkeeper Brian Jensen, who does not look to have suffered any lasting effects from his own injury on Tuesday.
Burnley boss Owen Coyle could not hide his disappointment over Paterson's injury woe.
"We have mixed news on the two lads," the Scottish boss told the club's official website.
"As we thought Brian suffered a dead leg and I am hopeful he could be fit for the weekend.
"But the news on Martin Paterson is a little worse. He has tweaked a cartilage and will undergo an operation tonight (Wednesday), at which point we will know further how long he will be sidelined for."
