'Blame the players': Man Utd humiliated at Brentford

Manchester United have been beaten 4-0 at Brentford on Saturday.

United conceded all four goals before halftime.

Brentford are just the third side to score four goals against Manchester United in the first half of a Premier League game after Tottenham in October 2020 and Liverpool in October 2021.

Josh Dasilva opened the scoring when his shot slipped through United goalkeeper David de Gea on nine minutes. Mathias Jensen made it two from another De Gea error ten minutes later. Ben Mee and Bryan Mbuemo also struck to send the hosts 4-0 up at halftime.

United manager Erik ten Hag threw on Scott McTominay and Tyrell Malacia to tighten things up after the break. While they stopped the goals, United struggled to test the hosts' defence.

Calling the game for BBC Radio, former Brighton and Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray said: "The talent in the Man Utd squad is second to none, its not comparable to the Brentford side at all.

"We have got to stop looking at the managers because its the same story, we have to start looking at the players. They know they're making the same mistakes over and over again."
