Derby County striker Luke Varney is close to signing a season-long loan deal with Premier League outfit Blackpool.
The 27-year old, who has had two loan spells with Sheffield Wednesday in the past two seasons, emerged as a strong target for Seasiders boss Ian Holloway and is reportedly on his way to Lancashire to complete the deal.
QPR were in talks with Varney until Holloway made a surprise move for the man who has been left out of calculations at Pride Park by Nigel Clough.
