Blackburn Rovers midfielder Tugay is set to announce his retirement.

The Sun says the 38-year-old Turk spoke with Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce about his future last week.

And Big Sam told him there was unlikely to be a new deal when the midfielder's current contract expires in the summer.

A Rovers source said: "Sam and Tugay had a chat and came to a mutual agreement that it was time to call it a day."

Blackburn fans have set up a petition on Facebook to earn the popular star a testimonial in recognition of his eight years at Ewood Park.
